Meet the Doctors

Our office is a true family practice. 

We are a family and we care for families. 

Dr. Jeff and Carol grew up in New Jersey. They began dating in high school and have been married now for 29 years! Dr. Jeff graduated with honors from Rutgers University with a B.S. in physiology. He graduated with his doctorate of chiropractic in 1979 from National Chiropractic College. After graduating they moved to North Carolina and in 1981 they opened an office in North Wilkesboro, N.C., which was one of the busiest practices in the state. Carol became a certified chiropractic assistant and became certified to take x-rays. Dr. Jeff and Carol raised three wonderful children there, and owned and operated that office for 22 years. In 1996, they started visiting Hilton Head and fell in love with the area. In May of 2003 they moved to Bluffton.

Dr. Kate is Dr. Jeff and Carol`s daughter.  Around age 3 she announced that she too would be a chiropractor and has been headed toward that goal ever since.  She attended undergraduate school at USC Spartanburg and then went onto chiropractic school at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic.  During her time there she was president of Women in Chiropractic and her class representative in the chiropractic student council.  Upon graduation she received the B.J. Palmer Philosophy Distinction award for her dedication and hardwork for chiropractic and the community.  Shortly after graduation she married John Houpt III.  "Coach Hop" teaches physical education/health at Bluffton Elementary and coaches football at Bluffton High School.  They have 2 boys, AJ is 3 and Joey is 1. They hope to help educate the children in our community about the importance of taking caring for their health.  Dr. Kate will focus much of her practice on pediatrics, however the she`s discovered the senior crowd has worked their way into her heart as well.

We have 3 wonderful chiropractic assistance that also work in the office, Michelle, Liseth and Natalie.  Michelle Taylor was a patient in our practice for 4 and a half years before she joined our staff. She and her husband, Tom, have a daughter Cheyenne who started at Bluffton High School this fall. Michelle lived in sunny Las Vegas for many years where she worked in the dental field before she moved to Bluffton in 2005.  Liseth Elliott was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador where she met her husband Carlton. They moved to Bluffton in 2008. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their dog, Bernie. Liseth has a degree in Psychology and speaks English and Spanish fluently.  Natalie Toledo loves to smile. She just moved here from San Diego, California because her mother is in the Navy. She’s Puerto Rican and very proud of her heritage. She’s currently studying at TCL and is planning on getting a bachelors degree in Photography.
